Wirral West Community Fund is inviting groups based in Wirral West Constituency to bid for grants to help make real improvements to community life and people’s wellbeing.

Wirral West Constituency Committee includes Arrowe Park, parts of Barnston, Pensby, Thingwall and Thurstaston.

Groups, voluntary organisations or social enterprises in the constituency can put forward their schemes and requests for funding which can range from £100 to £1,000.

Eligible projects will then be put to a community vote and asked to take part in a funding showcase event to help decide which projects will receive funding.

The last round of community voting in 2016 attracted more than 1,800 people to take part in the ballot, helping to raise awareness of some of the fantastic voluntary work that happens in our communities.

Decisions on grant awards will be announced at the Wirral West Constituency Committee on Thursday 14th March 2019

Councillor Jeff Green, chair of the constituency committee, said: “In 2016 the Community Fund supported projects right across the constituency.

“Grants went to allotment societies, carers support groups, lunch clubs and some of our many ‘Friends of’ parks and libraries groups. We also supported Christmas lights, community events and activities relating to the arts, history and conservation.

“These local projects make a big difference and once again we are offering an opportunity for groups to apply for funding and for residents and communities to show their support for the projects and improvements that matter to them.”

The Fund will open for bids on Friday 12th October 2018, with a closing date of Friday 23rd November 2018 at 12 noon.

Eligible groups will be required to take part in a funding showcase event on Tuesday 22nd January 2019. Groups will be required to deliver their projects by the end of March 2020.
