Willaston ram raid – appeal for witnesses

Cheshire Constabulary CID officers are appealing for information after offenders ram raided a convenience store in Willaston.

At around 2:10am on Wednesday 22 August a black Kia Sedona reversed into McColls Convenience Store on Neston Road, Willaston.

Two men got out of the vehicle, entered the store and attempted to access a cash machine using an angle grinder. Following unsuccessful attempts to access the cash machine, the men fled the scene empty-handed in a dark coloured vehicle which was parked nearby.

Detective Sergeant Graeme Carvell from said: “On this occasion the offenders were unsuccessful in their attempts. However, they caused a significant amount of damage to the store and we are committed to doing all that we can to bring them to justice.

“Investigations in relation to this incident are on-going and we are currently following a number of lines of enquiry, including CCTV, witness enquiries and forensics.

“I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident. I am also interested in hearing from local residents who may have witnessed persons acting suspiciously in the area in days or weeks prior to this offence.
