Police have warned residents of Heswall, Barnston, Bromborough and Eastham to be on their guard following a spate of burglaries.
Since 12 April, Merseyside Police has received 9 reports that an unknown offender or offenders have gained or attempted to gain access to properties.
Here, they have forcibly broken the locks on either the front or patio doors in the hope of stealing high value vehicles.
Investigations in relation to the incidents are on going and officers are currently following a number of lines of enquiry whilst conducting joint patrols in both areas.
Chief Inspector Nicholas Gunatilleke said: “We’re working with our colleagues in Cheshire to establish the full circumstances of these burglaries and who’s behind them.
“In the meantime, we’re encouraging all residents to fit secondary locking devices to their front and rear doors as a precaution. This will reduce the risk of you becoming a victim to these criminals.
“We’re also urging anyone that may have seen something suspicious at the time of these incidents or more recently to get in touch.
“Whilst we carry out further investigations, residents are also reminded to keep their houses secure, again by considering a second lock, making sure car keys are kept out of sight and continuing to look out for family, friends and neighbours.”
