[dropcap type=”circle”]P[/dropcap]olice are appealing for witnesses following an attack by pit-bull type dogs in Arrowe Park.
The attack left a labrador with multiple injuries, while its owner suffered puncture wounds and a damaged thumb.
The incident took place yesterday at around 6.30pm when the labrador and owner were walking on the playing fields next to Arrowe Brook Road.
A woman with the pitbull type dogs had them off their leads within a fenced tennis court area.
One of the dogs broke through the fencing and attacked the labrador.
Police were informed this morning and they are eager to speak to the woman in question.
She is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, of large build, with medium length blonde and wearing glasses.
Acting local policing inspector Marc Roberts said: “This was an appalling attack which has left a dog requiring surgery.
“We are keen to speak to this woman at the earliest possible opportunity, and any witnesses who may have seen the incident or these dogs in the park yesterday evening.
“We will not tolerate irresponsible dog ownership on Merseyside and want to maintain all our parks as safe and welcoming places to be.”
