[dropcap type=”circle”]I[/dropcap]n an exciting new project, award winning Neston Players and community interest company Hip & Harmony have joined together to launch a brand new production next month, showcasing the best of local talent.

Born from an inspiring idea to work together to create an original piece of musical theatre, written entirely from scratch by members of the groups and nearly two years in the making, ‘For the Love of It’, promises to be a warm and witty production offering a fantastic night’s entertainment. Featuring the home-grown debut playwriting skills of Cheryl Barker and Jenny Rae, alongside exclusively composed new music by Paula Prytherch and Patrick Dineen, this is an all singing and dancing romantic comedy for all the family about the love of a community.

The show in rehearsal

The play centres on the village of Butterbea, where Matt, a young ambitious developer, keen to prove himself to his overbearing father, has an opportunity to make his mark.  The villagers have been trying to raise money to save the dilapidated Village Hall, to no avail.  This is just the project Matt’s been waiting for, but will his vision for a new modern facility be welcomed by the village?

As Matt’s plans grow he starts to question his own values and has to come to terms with the reality and consequences of his actions on the lives of others.  Through tears, frustrations, love and laughter, and a lot of Dirty Dancing, Matt gets a lesson in community spirit, leading to a final decision on what matters more – his father’s expectations, or the hearts and minds of the people he has met along the way…

Showcasing a live band and combining the talents of experienced and first-time actors alike, this large-scale production of a cast of over 45 people is not to be missed.
