[dropcap type=”circle”]N[/dropcap]eston Cricket Club’s hugely successful Summer Marquee Week will this year run over a fortnight.

The club has unveiled its most ambitious ever programme of events with something to suit all ages and interests.

The fortnight kicks off with the annual Sporting Lunch on June 29th with former England cricketer and Ashes winning captain Michael Vaughan as the guest speaker. To meet growing demand, the club has invested in its biggest ever marquee with the ability to seat 650 people. There will also be a champagne bar courtesy of Laurent Perrier.

The first week also sees the return of the hugely popular Parkgate Proms, featuring the 32-piece L’ Orchestra dell Arte under the leadership of conductor and artistic director Edward Peak, and the Summer Ball.

The feature of the newly introduced second week will be the inaugural Parkgate Beer and Gin Festival on July 7th and 8th.

The festival will include more than 60 beers from local breweries such as the Brimstage Brewery, Cheshire Brewhouse and Spitting Feathers. There will also be over 25 gins to try including old favourites Tanqueray, Bombay Sapphire and Hendricks and others such as Liverpool Gin, Edinburgh Gin and Four Pillars.

This year’s expanded Marquee Fortnight has been orchestrated by Craig Stubbs, who joined as Neston Cricket Club’s General Manager just under a year ago, deputy manager Kat Hussey and club President Tony Bush.

Sponsors across the fortnight include Forresters, Lees Solicitors, Gordale, Mitchell Group and Phillip Bates & Co Chartered Accountants and Financial Planners. All food during the fortnight will be provided by North West Caterer of the Year, Cheeky Chilli.

Tony Bush said: “Marquee Week had established itself as one of the flagship events of its kind in the region and this year we are taking it to a whole new level.

“During the course of the two weeks, we expect over 3,000 people to attend one or more events, all of which have been carefully designed to ensure that there is something for everyone.”

On Sunday, July 9th the club is playing host to the Parkgate Carnival which will raise vital funds for local charities.
