[dropcap type=”circle”]A[/dropcap]woman stabbed in Pensby’s Fishers Lane Park remains in hospital but her condition is described as non-life threatening.

At around 8.20pm on Sunday night the victim was involved in an altercation with a group of four male youths in dark clothing, following alleged criminal damage of a fence at her nearby home. During the incident, one of the youths produced a knife from his pocket and made threats. The woman began to walk back to her house before realising she had sustained a puncture wound to her back.

CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries are still being carried out and Merseyside Police will be providing a high-visibility presence in the parks and open spaces of Pensby in the coming days to provide reassurance for local residents.

Detective Inspector Paul Lamb of Wirral CID said: “This incident took place in a public place and I would urge anyone who witnessed the attack or knows who was involved to do the right thing and call police immediately. The youths involved joined a larger group in the park and I am sure some of these young people would not want to be associated with such a brutal attack. The victim is understandably shocked at what happened and is receiving treatment, but her injuries could have easily been much worse.”

Anyone who has information is urged to contact Wirral CID on 0151 777 2265, call 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
