Appeal for witnesses after 10 year old boy injured on Hilbre

Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which a 10 year-old boy was injured on Hilbre Island yesterday.

Officers believe that the boy, who was accompanied by an adult, slipped on rocks at around 1pm and suffered a head injury.

This morning his condition was described as critical but stable.

An air ambulance was called to the scene and volunteers from the West Kirby lifeboat team helped with the rescue.

The boy was then airlifted to Alder Hey Children’s hospital.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Hilbre Island between 12.30pm and 1.30pm yesterday and may have witnessed the incident or has any information to contact Merseyside Police.
