[dropcap type=”circle”]H[/dropcap]eswall Together is hoping to develop an organisation capable of representing and serving the best interests of residents, community groups and local businesses.

Public meetings are to be held at Heswall Hall in early April. Their aim is to increase understanding of the hopes, fears, needs and ambitions of local people and, against a background of cuts to public spending, enable groups and individuals to respond to many and varied challenges.

Keith Foggin of Heswall Together said, “Right now local councils are actively seeking ways to devolve resources and responsibilities to a community level. We need to be ready to pick up the challenge and find local solutions for local issues. We can’t afford to be left behind and Heswall Together believes it is possible for groups to join together without sacrificing their own identities.”

Community Groups already involved include Heswall Hall Community Trust, The Heswall Society, Heswall and District Business Association, Churches Together in Heswall, Heswall U3A, Heswall Arts Festival, and Heswall Homewatch Scheme.

Heswall Together’s Peter Wright added, “What we are proposing is the formation of a new, non-political representative organisation based within the boundary of Heswall ward. We are sure that all sorts of bodies and individuals can work together to both reduce the impact of reduced public services and to really listen to opinions about how Heswall can be an even better place to live and bring up children. But we need ideas and support for this venture and to find out what people think about it, so we ask people to kindly attend the public meetings to have their say.”
